Chris Budai—Division F Member of the Month

Chris Budai is a Project Manager and a Registered Geologist for the U.S Army Corps of Engineers
(USACE). She graduated from the University of Kansas with a Bachelor's degree and from Portland
State University with a Masters degree in Geology. Chris practiced in her field for over 20 years at the

Corps before becoming a Project Manager. She currently has responsibility over several Salmonid
upstream and downstream passage fish facility projects in the
Willamette Basin.
At Essayons Toastmasters, Chris has held many leadership
positions including President. She is currently the club Treasurer.
Each year, Chris and a team conduct Leadership Development
(LDP) TM Speechcraft for USACE. This takes many hours in
preparation and four hours each week for eight weeks. Plus it is
the main fund raiser for our club enabling us to support a club of
close to 50 members at this time. Lastly, she does a wonderful
job of encouraging people to continue on with Toastmasters
after the LDP training to further their leadership and speaking skills.
Other honored nominees for September were:

Merilee Krebs, Professionals of Portland, should be nominated for the entire year. She was our
president for two years and helped immensely with another club. She coordinated the World's Largest
Toastmasters Meeting. She tirelessly helps our club as well as other clubs in District 7. All the while,
she is there to support her members. Merilee is fantastic.

Quinn Oaks, Oregonian Club, has always made guests feel welcome, supported members through
their challenges, and encourages us all to set and achieve goals. He naturally leads by example. Quinn
speaks regularly, and speaks with authenticity. He offers ideas to help the club, steps in to fill any role
without hesitation, and brings thoughtful messages to share with the group. Quinn seems to be the
glue for our Club to pull together during times of low membership and decreased participation. He is
a true inspiration and joy to have in our Club.

Hope Redmond, Oregonian Club, really steps up to the plate - arriving early for meetings, helping
with set up and tear down, offering organizational support, and in general exemplifying leadership
in the club.
Perry Elston, Motormouths, is always enthusiastic and welcomes all members
and guests with warmth and sincerity. He is open about his efforts to
continually improve both his speaking and leadership abilities. He is always
willing to pitch in to help the meetings run smoothly.

Congratulations to all nominees from Division F. Your leadership and example
truly exemplify the club mission of Toastmasters International and District 7.
Thank you everyone!
