1. What brought you to Toastmasters and why did you join?

During my candidacy for WA State Representative, I was advised to seek professional speech
coaching. I was referred to a coach, who referred me to a instructor at Clark County College (who
just happened to be from my home town) – she advised joining Toastmasters for practice, prac-
tice and practice!

2. How have you applied what you learned in Toastmasters to your job or everyday life?

Toastmasters has helped me discover a passion for mentoring others—my give-back to the com-
munity. It has also improved my Parliamentary skills which I have been doing since high school
years

3. What do your friends and family think of you being in Toastmasters?

I have recruited several friends and neighbors to Toastmasters and I frequently bring up Toast-
masters in conversations.

4. What goal have you achieved in Toastmasters that you are proudest of?

I achieved DTM last year, of course. I have served as Pathways Guide and Pathways Ambassa-
dor during the rollout, Area 81 Director, Division G Director, as well as District 7 Parliamentarian
for over 5 years. I have mentored over a dozen Toastmasters. I have also served as Toastmasters
speech contest judge, contest official or ZoomMaster on 5 continents. I have also co-coordinated
a Youth Leadership Program with Stephana Johnson for 19 home-schoolers. I was amazed at their
positive attitude, participation and dynamics. I have completed all eleven (11) Paths in Pathways,
several more than once.

5. What is the next goal you would like to achieve?

Serve as Area 83 Director this TM Year. Help build a Corporate Club in Clark County. Maybe a
second DTM next year. I hope to have completed all Projects in all Levels in all Paths by the end of
next year.

6. What winter activities do you enjoy most?

Least favorite time of year – woodworking in the unheated garage; traveling to warmer places
including wave-watching on the WA/OR Coast.

7. If you were snowed in, what is one thing you would like to be sure to have with you?

We have over 5000 movies on DVD, but cable and streaming provide ample opportunities for
new and old movies.
