ce McLaughlin —Division G Member of the Month

Bryce is a newer member of Wrip City Toastmasters. He joined less
than a year ago, and has welcomed the challenge to present
various speeches on his way to completing the Competent
Communicator Manual. Not only that but he has stepped up to
hold an official role as Sergeant at Arms. He does this role like a
bear caring for her cubs getting there early, rearranging the desks
and chairs, installing the banners and podium and making our
room ready to invite members or guests. He even remembers to
tape the lock on the door so latecomers can sneak in without
disruption. He readies the handouts and placards that we use in each meeting and sorts the name
cards, presenting them to those who have seated without them. All these behaviors are done in a
smooth, professional and strategically thought out plan which rolls out the red carpet for
Toastmasters and visitors so they can relax, attending to their own roles and projects. The next
Sergeant at Arms will have big shoes to fill. I appreciate Bryce's boldly taking on the role and showing
us what a great Toastmaster does. He brings wonderful homemade desserts when we have open
houses. Bryce is being nominated for his outstanding work in the club.

Other honored nominees for October were:

Patrick Touhey, West Beaverton Toastmasters and Sporty Speakers—Patrick acted as Liberty
Talkers club coach and really helped the club turn around and perform better as a group. His
presence really helped Liberty Talkers earn the President's Distinguished designation for the 2013-'14
year.
I am part of the Sporty Speakers club. My nomination would be for Patrick Touhey. He is
approachable, encouraging and always willing to help me. He does not act like he is above me or in
any way condescending. He watches out for me without being overbearing. He's willing to share the
challenges he goes through.
Bill Hernandez, West Beaverton Toastmasters—Bill is a great member who always helps bring high

energy to the club. He encourages those to sign up for open roles and is open to
mentoring others in the club. He exemplifies the mission thru his positivism and
encouragement to others in the club to not be fearful as well as to take risks
while being creative. Bill is a great asset to the club.
Alan Finkemeier, Silicon Forest Toastmasters and Bridge Toastmasters—
It's contest season and Alan has once again stepped up to fill the bill and
make sure all the contests are going - both area and division. He also ensured
that trainings took place in his division, trying to get clubs up to full-trained
strength. He's also working on an article for Voices! magazine. He's traveled
to many clubs as division governor. I know he's mentoring the new Area
91 Governor, Erik Crowley. Personally, he has also gone out of his way
to provide help with trying to find a westside club to visit with a
