ha Canning—Division B Member of the Month

Shortly after electing new officers at Corvallis Evening Group, our
president moved out of the area. Dotha who is serving as our Vice
President of Education has taken on the President position and is doing
both while we figure out who will fill in for her VP position. She also
organized the first speech contest our club has had in the last 3 years—
and it was a huge success.

Other honored nominees for October were:

Chris Hauser, OSU Toastmasters—has served long in her club but she
also attends Toast of Corvallis club on a regular basis, always volunteers for
meeting roles that need to be filled at the last minute, always helps out at
area events as judge/room scheduler/food provider. She shepherds our
Toastmaster gear around in the building where we meet. She steps in to get
something done when no one else is available. She always seems to be the

unsung hero that makes everything work well behind the scenes in our
Corvallis clubs. She is certainly deserving as a winner of the Division member
of the month.

Sandy Bell, Toast of Corvallis—I've observed Sandy Bell doing an
excellent job of mentoring one of our new members. Sandy always
jumps in to volunteer for meeting roles and speaking opportunities.

Phil Westover—Division C Member of the Month
Phil is the consummate Toastmaster. Always willing to lend a hand or
step up to the podium to fill a slot, Phil Westover has been a central
driver of our new club’s success. As our first club president Phil
established many of the club’s practices. As our current VP of Education,
Phil has created a mentoring program for new members and continues
to lead by example with a passion for speech writing
and delivery. A-dec Toastmasters was chartered in
2013. Through Phil’s support, and coaching,
the club continues to grow and prosper. Recently, they’ve considered
adding extra meetings to accommodate their growing membership
roster.
