stmasters. Jo Anna Shaw presented on the Club President and VP Education roles,
Becky Holm, Area 21 Governor, on the VP Marketing and Public Relations roles, and
Michelle Alba-Lim, Lt. Governor Education/Training, presented on the Sergeant at Arms,
Secretary, and Treasurer roles.
Salina Christaria, VP of Education from Southern Oregon
Speechmasters, approached me and asked me if she
could talk about her method for helping her members
learn about the Distinguished Club Program (DCP). She
presented her DCP prop, a simple board with all the DCP
requirements on it, complete with bright green sticky
notes to write a note or add a checkmark when the goal
has been completed. A long-time member stated, "AHA!
This is why you come to Division Officer training. To learn
something new that will help all your members become
better Toastmasters."
I was pleased with how the training unveiled, and how the information was presented
in a give-and-take format. The discussions answered questions and involved the entire
group. I was happy with the way members stepped up and became involved. I learned
that these events are much easier to coordinate when the tasks and responsibilities are
shared. I learned a lot about leadership and believe it was a successful officer training.
On top of it all, everyone loved the raspberry cheese cake I brought. Several long-time
Toastmasters thanked me and said it was a great format and they enjoyed the training.
Thank you Southern Oregon Toastmasters who hosted the event.
