h Genly—Division E Member of the Month
Beth Genly is a member of Toastmasters for Speaking
Professionals. Showing up at every single meeting, HIGHLY
prepared. Beth volunteers for roles, she cheerfully accepts
roles she's assigned, and she takes the time to read about,
ask questions about, think about each role and to prepare
herself fully. I am a more engaged Toastmaster because of
her positive and uplifting example.

Engage your Audience Using Stories
In your next presentation, whether it's a 5-7 minute manual speech, or a
keynote before an audience of 500, use storytelling to illustrate your
points. Your audience will remember your message longer because
stories give them an emotional frame of reference. They create
connections between your stories and theirs, which engages them on a
deeper level. If you know your audience, the stories you share will
be more meaningful. Which means—do your research. What are
they passionate about? What stories should you reserve for
another time? Answer these questions and motivate your
audience through storytelling.
