District 7 is on the March

By Erik Bergman, DTM—Club Growth Director

Do you love a parade? We do—and we want you to join your fellow Toastmasters and
friends as we march in the Multnomah Days Parade on Saturday, August 15th. The
easy, quarter-mile parade route winds along the main street of Multnomah Village in
Southwest Portland. This neighborhood parade is part of a fun day of music, arts and
food. It’s also a great chance to share our message that Toastmasters is “where leaders
are made.”

Last year a few hardy Toastmasters entered the Multnomah Days Parade to see what it
was like. We tossed candy to the kids and handed Toastmasters flyers to the adults. The
PA announcers told the crowd, which numbered in the thousands, about our group

and our message. So let’s do it again this year, but with
a larger group to show off our true strength.

We aim to have fun as we make Toastmasters more

visible as a group that does so much for the community,

but which is seldom seen by those outside our club

       meetings.

Two marchers will carry our District 7 banner. Members

are encouraged to bring Multnomah Days Parade
their club banners too. If Saturday, August 15,2015
       you have a Toastmasters

T-shirt, wear it. We plan to have TI 90th anniversary T-shirts Meeting place: Handy
available for marchers as well. Otherwise, simply dress for Andy’s Service Station
the weather, bring a water bottle and wear comfortable 7991 SW Capitol Highway
walking shoes. The route is accessible to young and old of at Garden Home Road
all abilities.
                                                                     Gather: 9:15 a.m.

                                                                Parade starts: 10 a.m.

If you own a convertible or antique car and are willing to Information: cgd@
drive it in the parade, that would really up our game! Who’s d7toastmasters.org

game?

Participants are encouraged to liven things up for the crowd with music, costumes,
banners, dancers, you name it. We can be as creative as the ideas you bring. Let’s raise
our profile, take to the streets and be seen for what we are — a dynamic group that
helps people build their personal and professional skills. Interested? Want to know
