king Audience Connections—Continued from page 15)

Your eyes will sparkle, your body awaken, and your movements will be purposeful and
direct. An old bromide states "set yourself on fire and people will come from miles
around to watch you burn." Set yourself on fire with passion. You will also demonstrate
an intimate and copious knowledge about topics that interest you and stimulate your
passions. You could carry on for days speaking of topics that whet your appetite. Resist
the temptation and keep your talk to a reasonable length of time. Also in knowing a
topic intimately you will able to spew out insights and wisdom that will astound your
audience and have them screaming for more.

The question you must answer is, "what are you passionate about?" What topics awaken
the giant within? Answering this question is like brushing your teeth, "you have to do
it for yourself."Well, get started! Write down a list of topics that stir the embers of desire
and passion in you?

In the next couple of issues we will explore my other two suggestions: "Have a high
you/I ratio" and "Demonstrate empathy for your audience." Stay tuned.
