Thomas Flynn “I started my Toastmasters journey in 2009 as a way to improve my

communications in both my personal and professional life. Luckily for me, Toast-
masters gave and continues to allow me the opportunities to develop my speak-
ing and more importantly my listening skills. Every club in Area 75 obtain-
ing President's Distinguished Club status is a fantastic and
lofty goal for this year, and I am going to work
with my team to strive for this. But, I could
settle for each club obtaining Distinguished
Thomas Flynn Club status. My desire this year is for every
ACS, ALB member, in every club in Area 75 to achieve
Area 75 Governor
at least 1 education award. If we can ac-
complish that, then I am confident that every club could obtain
President's Distinguished Club. I look forward to working with Area 75
Area 75's officers and club members to realize this goals!”

Joe Smith “I am Area 73 Governor. I joined TM to Area 72
improve not only my speaking but how I presented to
an audience. At the time I was doing seminars for 50
to 100 people and did not feel my information was
being received as well as it should have been. The
leadership and listening skills that I have developed
Joe Smith from TM were not expected but have been well

achieve the goals they want to attain. “ Area 74

Brian Conley “My two areas of responsibility are to my
home club as webmaster and to Area 74. I often tell
people that I joined Toastmasters because I am a
consulting engineer. I have over 30 years of technical
experience and founded my own company in 2006 without Brian Conley
a clue about how to run a business. I was able to get some ACS, ALB
basic business classes, including accounting and marketing, Area 74
at Portland Community College but I needed more practice in sales. After I
discovered the Advanced Communication Series of manuals I knew I could Area 76
get the help I needed. What I want to accomplish this year is to grow the

clubs I have.I filled in a part of last year as Area 71’s governor. In the
reorganization of the Areas, two clubs from Area 71 followed me to Area
74.I want to see that all of my clubs flourish, especially the ones that have
stepped back from the brink.”
