joyfully celebrate the achievements of our members, like our recent Halloween and DTM
(Distinguished Toastmaster) party for Karen O’Keefe.

Karen O’Keefe, VP Public Relations. . .
Comes for rocking good feedback
Appreciates gentle mentoring and guidance of our experienced members
Loves enthusiasm, support, and genuine fondness for and from our members

Another feature of our club is our mentor program where a new member is paired with a seasoned
member to assist them with their first three speeches, support them as they assimilate into the
Toastmaster’s program and be their ‘go to’ person for questions. My mentor, Scott Stevenson, also a
past District Governor, has been the cornerstone of Marylhurst Toastmasters since it was chartered
and has unparalleled dedication to maintaining the club’s stability and reputation for excellence.

Scott Stevenson, Past District Governor and 17 year member. . .

Comes for the people and the excitement they bring to the meeting. The location is good and the
meeting room is great

Appreciates the ability to have spontaneous fun in an outstanding supportive environment and
the copious amounts of Toastmasters wisdom brought by experienced Toastmasters

Our members, both new and seasoned, are committed to continuing the qualities of a distinguished
club. For the past eight consecutive years, Marylhurst Toastmasters has proudly achieved the status of
President's Distinguished Club - the highest level of recognition available. We are a diverse
organization made up of students, retirees, young and seasoned professionals – many are
entrepreneurs or managers, and residents from the local community. Experienced professionals and
novice speakers alike can benefit from what our club offers. We look forward to seeing you at an
upcoming meeting to experience for yourself the magic of Marylhurst Toastmasters!

Pam Gundrum, Member Two Years. . .

Comes for the safe, comfortable and supportive environment
Appreciates leadership and mentoring provided by seasoned members
Loves the friendships and family like feeling
Our club can best be described by Scott Stevenson: “In my many years in Toastmasters, I have
belonged to and visited many clubs. This club, in my opinion, is an excellent example and a poster
child of what a TM club should be. The way guests are welcomed, the positive support all members
receive are textbook examples of how it should be done. Marylhurst Toastmasters is an excellent
example of the type of club that inspires people to visit, and then never leave.“

Beth Nelson, President. . .

Comes for the professional environment that supports growth in meeting management skills
Loves the age, ethnicity and professional diversity

Marylhurst Toastmasters meets Thursday evenings from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. on the Marylhurst University
campus in the Hemlock Room in the Villa Maria building.
