                                             Taking the Lead in 2025

                                       Jennifer Schmidt - Senior Editor

Happy New Year and welcome to 2025!

I remember 25 years ago when it was the year 2000 and everyone was excited about the new century
starting, and 1999 was the most popular song to celebrate the occasion. It’s hard to believe how fast
those 25 years have flown by and they seem to go faster with each new year.

Every January, we get a fresh start and new opportunities to take the lead in planning the goals we
want to achieve. Making a decision about the new adventures we are looking to pursue with a new vi-
sion for our upcoming year. Our Publisher Leela Seeber, will be doing that herself both personally and
professionally as she describes in her article, titled, “Change 2025 Style”.

Our theme of leadership also includes focusing on purpose. This topic is discussed in depth by Nuthan-
ath Aumpradithpun, in her article, “Empowered By Purpose”. This content also includes the key actions
that will help you grow your purpose this year.

Contributor David Freedman, has included his insights and practical advice on one of the hardest jobs
to do during a Toastmaster meeting, namely, “Preparing To Be The Toastmaster”.

Leadership is a main focus of Toastmasters, not only for leading meetings, committees, and contests,
but also developing our own leadership style. Many times we may hesitate going in a particular direc-
tion but I share ideas of how to, “Trust Your Gut When You Lead”.

In addition, you will also get to know more about members David Shehorn (Division G) from Clark
County Toastmasters and Kristin Webb-Tomson (Division H) from Timber Talkers. What is particularly
fun about these profiles is learning more about our members, their Toastmasters’ journey, along with
           their achievements and hobbies.

Other highlights for this issue are articles by Barry Lee Coyne, including an opinion piece about the
political process and an interesting view about the “The Cool Currency Connection” which highlights
           coin phrases.

Also, Harvey Schowe is mapping the Martin mystery with his article, “Mapping a Murder” and Leanna
Lindquist gives us some details about the upcoming District 7 Conference in May with her article, “Why
           Attend?”
