Why Attend Toastmasters Leadership
Institute (TLI) and Club Officer Training?

Have you ever wondered why Toastmasters International and your district leaders
encourage you to attend Toastmasters Leadership Institute (TLI) or club officer training?
It's far more important than merely being able to tick off half a point on the DCP chart.
Training enables officers to learn how to better perform their roles and serve their club
members more effectively. Participants learn valuable leadership skills such as creating
and communicating a vision, motivating volunteers, problem solving, conflict
resolution, and much more. In addition, training provides an excellent opportunity to
meet fellow Toastmasters from all over the District, make new friends, and learn best
practices from other clubs.

I attend as many Toastmasters training events as possible. Each time, I learn new tips
that I can take back to my clubs as well as share throughout the District.
For example, during the recent Division A training, Salina Christaria (VPE,
Southern Oregon Speechmasters) shared a visual and fun way of keeping
track of DCP goals. (Refer to the Division A pages. Division A Governor, Noah
Salinas, talks about lessons learned at their recent club officer training.—
Editor)

If you haven’t attended officer training yet this year there is still time.
Click here to view the District 7 calendar, or check out this month's
calendar on the back cover, and make a point to go to one of the
offerings..

As icing on the cake, clubs that have all seven officers trained will receive
a beautiful burgundy ribbon proudly stating “7 of 7 Trained.” It will be a
great addition to your club banner.

Finally, remember that leadership training is not limited to current club
officers. Any Toastmaster is welcome to attend and benefit from training.

Hope to see you all at an officer training event in the next two weeks!
