onio Jackson—Division D Member of the Month

The Banfield Barkers selected Antonio Jackson to be their
January Member of the Month! Antonio brings a level of
professionalism to the club and takes on a leadership role
to ensure meetings run smoothly. Some of the most
inspirational speeches we've heard this year have been
Antonio's.

In a recent interview with fellow members of Banfield Barkers,
Antonio provided the following information:

Why did you join Toastmasters? I joined Toastmasters earlier in 2014 because I wanted
to stretch myself to try something new and step outside of my comfort zone.
How has the club affected your communication/leadership skills? The club has
helped me to meet and interact with so many wonderful people I may not have had the
opportunity to interact with on a regular basis at CTS [Banfield headquarters]. I've
become more confident when getting up in front of my peers and speaking. Also, it has
given me a platform on a weekly basis to express my thoughts and feelings and to work
on my overall development.
How does your experience speaking in the club now differ from your experience
the first time you spoke? At first, I was really nervous because I didn't know anyone.
Now, through the support of my fellow Barkers, I feel confident to speak and share in
front of anyone. It's a great feeling to know that you are in an environment where you
can learn and grow and that everyone is there to support you and encourage you to be
better.
What is your favorite part of our Toastmasters club? Coming to the club meetings
each week and hearing the cool stories and experiences everyone shares. I learn so
much about my fellow Barkers and about myself each time we get together. The club is
made up of so many wonderful people that it gives me a great outlet from the stresses
of work.
Do you have pets? If so, what are they and what are their names? My children have a
dog and his name is Ronan. He looks like a Patterdale Terrier, but the Humane Society
thought he was a mix between a Chihuahua and Min Pin. He's been a great addition to
the family.
