THOUGHTS FROM THE DIRECTOR’S STAND
Declutter Your Life
Eldred Brown, DTM- District Director
After I started my new job six weeks ago
and realized I had a new flow of income,
one of the first things I did was round up
several boxes of my personal belongings
and move them to a nearby storage facility.
Why did I do this? Five years ago, I moved
into my current apartment, a home I found
too small for even the frugal amounts I had
acquired through 25 years of life on
my own. I needed to use an 8-foot
x 8-foot square of my bedroom
floor to store all the items I could
not use daily, and I allowed some
of the excess to overflow into my
office space. Knowing that I was going to
have to work my new job from home thru
at least June, I knew I needed to set up a
professional workspace that would make
me feel as if I was working at the office.
Too much clutter on the floor would make
my mind feel too cluttered, thus reducing
my effectiveness at work. I haven’t
decluttered my home as
much as I want, and I still
have a bit more work to
do, but I already feel better
about what I have accomplished.
