From Cold Calls to Club Growth! For all District 7 Toastmasters!
Cold calling can seem intimidating – calling strangers and inviting them to collaborate with you may seem scarier than doing your first Ice Breaker speech – but think about the benefits you’ve already received from that first step. This experience will be even more intense and the benefits just as valuable!
Join Past International Director, Jim Kohli, DTM, and learn how to use cold calls to 1) grow new clubs, 2) build self confidence, and 3) develop career skills that can be used in a variety of ways. Jim will walk you through a cold call process, then offer tools, best practices, and practical scenarios to help you get started on an activity that will help you and help District 7 Toastmasters. Motivational Interviewing is a tool used by doctors, policemen, psychologists, and social workers to elicit change quickly and confidently. It’s not hypnosis – it’s just good listening, and an important skill to know.
If you’re in a situation where you need to help someone make their own decisions, motivational interviewing is a great approach. Or if you’re ever struggled with being a good listener, the basics of motivational interviewing will help you with this, too!
Learn and practice this therapeutic tool when you’re in a crucial conversation, working with your team, boss, partner, and improve the outcome.
Aaron Stusser has years of experience with motivational interviewing as a volunteer with the Portland crisis hotline, utilizing it to help those in crisis move in a direction of decision making instead of stress.
