D7 Membership Forum – January 12th in Tualatin

This entry is part 1 of 3 in the seriesWinter 2013 Events

When we talk with clubs, one theme is almost universal, the constant struggle to recruit new members.  Every club needs a good base of active members in order to ensure that members are staying excited about the program.

This January 12th, please join D7 STAFF at the Membership Forum (Registration Form).  We are taking an entire morning to focus on membership at a D7 event.  Lessons from the best, tips on ways to make it easier for new and existing members, and activities to learn and share with you fellow D7 members.   The event will be at the Church of the Resurrection 21060 Southwest Stafford Road, Tualatin, OR 97062

Club membership is a huge part of the Distinguished Club Program as both a minimum qualifying level of 20 members (or growth of net 5) and for two of the ten possible points the in program, one for each time the club gets 4 new members. Attendance at this event will give you the tools you need to grow your club.

I invite all officers of D7 to join us on the 12th from 8:30 to 12:15.  Please use the Winter Training Registration form to sign up and let us know that you will be at the event.  Attendance at this event will count as officer training for the December through February period.  Note: To receive credit toward one of the goals in the Distinguished  Club Program, at least four club officers must attend a district-sponsored training program twice a year.

After the TLI meeting in Tualatin, Judge’s training is set for 12:30-1:30 p.m

The interactive session covers key topics such as:
• A Judge’s Mission, Vision & Values
• Contest Forms
• Judging Techniques
• Contest Rules
• How to Avoid Bias

Division Training Events

This entry is part 2 of 3 in the seriesWinter 2013 Events

In addition to the two major training events in January, I’ve asked each division to host a training event for members of our district to ensure that every member has the ability to network with their fellow toastmasters and  learn in a group environment that I believe is best for improving our members experiences at the club.

There are already several events listed on the District 7 Calendar.  I’m working with the rest of the divisions to continue to expand the number of events that are available for our members to attend, learn, and grow.  You can register for all of these events at the same Winter event registration form.  Every one of these events will count toward your officer training requirement of the distinguished club program.  Note:  To receive credit toward one of the goals in the Distinguished Club Program, at least four club officers must attend a district-sponsored training program twice a year.

  • January 28th, Sunset Division, Beaverton Library, 12375 SW 5th Street, Beaverton, OR
  • February 2nd, Southern Division, Medford Library, 205 S. Central Avenue, Medford, OR
  • February 6th,  Willamette Division, The Oregonians Credit Union, 6915 SE Lake Road, Milwaukie, OR
  • February 27th, Northern Division, The Leaders Edge, 4555 NE 66th Avenue, Vancouver, WA

We will be adding more events to the D7 calendar and will send out updates when they are added to all officers who haven’t yet registered to attend an event.  Please register now to attend one of the Winter events.
