Typical Club Meeting FormatMost Toastmasters clubs generally follow this format when conducting meetings: Club President - Opens the meeting,welcomes the members and guests, and introduces the Toastmaster for the day. Toastmaster - The Master of Ceremonies; the Toastmaster conducts the meeting, Introduces speakers, and Topicmaster and General Evaluator. Speaker - Formal Speeches presented by Club Members. Each speech stresses specific goals set forth by manuals provided by Toastmasters International. Depending on the length of the club meeting, two to four speeches are given. Table Topics - This is impromptu speaking. It gives a chance to practice responding to questions that might be asked by a friend, boss or customer. The Topicmaster asks the other Toastmasters a question, which is answered off the cuff in one to two minutes. Many clubs give guests the chance to participate if they want to. Evaluations - Evaluations of the Formal Speeches area key element to growth. The Speakers are given specific feedback highlighting what made the presentation strong & suggestions for improvement while maintaining or building self-esteem. Unlike a class, we get feed back from everyone instead of a single expert. When we speak, different audience members will see us differently. Because we have a different evaluator for each speech plus feedback from the entire audience we the range of impressions. Besides speaking, members have the opportunity to serve as Toastmaster, Topicmaster, Evaluator, General Evaluator, etc.. Opportunities are rotated among members to provide a variety of experience.
